Sleepy Tuesdays

Tuesdays are always sleepy for me.  Monday nights I have practice for the community band I’m in.  When I get home, I’m usually crazy wired, so it takes forever for me to fall asleep.

Last night was no different.  Plus, I was finally getting to sleep, when K woke up crying.  She’s almost 22 months and still doesn’t sleep through the night consistently.  Sometimes we’ll have a run of 6 nights, but then it’ll be followed by a week of waking.  I think she has my sleep genes.  I’ve never been a good sleeper.  I am an incredibly light sleeper and wake a lot.  K seems to be a heavier sleeper, but still wakes.  Poor kiddo.

My spam war continues.  Less mail today, but mostly because my “subject” filters kicked in on some of them.  New IPs to add to my filter too.  Yippee Skippee!

My War on Spam

Anyone who has email understands the annoyingness of spam emails.

I’ve used my email address for over 10 years and never had spam on it.  Of course, I used my ISP given email for signing up for anything, so apart from friends, no one else had my regular one.  Until late last year.

I don’t know what happened.  Obviously I mistakenly signed up for SOMETHING, or gave a retailer the wrong address, or who knows..but either way, one spammer has gotten my email address.  Thankfully they haven’t sold it (yet) to any other spammers.  But still … about 4 times a day, I get about 15 emails.  All of them are the same, so I know it’s the same spammer.  It’s either “Auto quotes”, “insurance has expired”, “rachel ray weight loss”, “oprah and dr oz something or other”, blah blah blah.

After a few months of this, I’ve decided to wage war.  Of course, I’m Canadian, so we’re a passive bunch of people (or so the world says), right?  So.. I’ve been diligently adding each IP range to my email blocking … I noticed the first change this morning when I didn’t wake up to the customary emails.. though I did get another batch around 8am.

Maybe it’s making a difference…maybe it’s not (to my inbox).  But either way.. I really do NOT want to have to change my email address unless I have to.
